Bayshore Bikeway

Bayshore Bikeway....we did it!

March, 2018 by michael murillo

My wife, Kindred, and I did the trail staring at the ferry and going clockwise around for a 25.09 mile ride, including the ferry trip back across the bay. A perfect day to ride even though there was a little wind! Highly recommend doing this lovely bike ride. 3/30/2018

Mission Bay Bike Path

ocean trail

March, 2018 by dan.allen.50552

We rode this trail and somehow connected it with several others and ended at "dog beach" in Oceanside. We rode 20 miles total. Good ride crazy crowds ( we did ride on a Sunday after a rainy Saturday). Signage could have been better especially at critical turns. I think on a weekday it would have been fantastic.

Mission Bay Bike Path

riding by the ocean

March, 2018 by dan.allen.50552

We circumnavigated the bay. The attached map was very useful. The map the city provides was also nice. We had to use both maps to get around especially the east side by the shipping yards. There is mostly bike lanes the entire route, the problem is some streets are not listed. The other issue is when some trails end they don't have signage to get you to the next one. We also did the ferry that cost $4.95 bikes welcomed. Please do this ride it is fantastic with a boat ride in the harbor to boot!! And an ocean ¿¿¿¿¿¿

Escondido Creek Bike Path

Crosswalks needed

March, 2018 by janerowe78

As a resident of Escondido I use the bike path all the time for pleasure and commuting to work. It really surprises me that there are no crosswalks where the path meets the busy streets. It’s very difficult to cross and cars do not yield. It would be simple to put paint striping aka crosswalks to make the space safe and more useable for all.

Mission Bay Bike Path

Note for Biking with Kids

December, 2017 by heather.davisbauer

The majority of this ride is beautiful, fun and safe to do with kids. But, with young kids / new riders you may want to stick to the west side of the trail. The north side (near Campland / Golf Course) requires biking in the street with traffic. Similarly, the stretch along Sea World Dr. and across W. Mission Bay Bridge is heavily trafficked/ not kid friendly.

Escondido Creek Bike Path

Dangerous and a most of it a Trashpit

November, 2017 by evanspurchases_gmail.com

You take your life in jeoprardy on this trail. Many street crossings, none have striping and are poorly signed. Cars will not stop, even if you are in the middle of the street.
The west end, from the Transit Center on, has a ton of trash left by the homeless. Also be careful riding under the underpasses that you don't run over someone sleeping.

Escondido Creek Bike Path

Flat tires

August, 2017 by kuztomb

I was using the bike path everyday to commute to work but the past couple weeks I haven't been riding the bike path at all cause every time I do I get flat tire of two.... Literally every single time, so my question is "how often does the path get cleaned and I mean the actual riding path????

Sweetwater Bikeway

Nice Trail

August, 2017 by 4hcv619

I have hiked this for years , part of early morning walk. this trail also is part of the California Riding and Hiking Trail, which heads inland for another 16 miles, to steel canyon bridge, you will need a mountain bike. In addition the California Coastal Trail and San Diego Bike the Bay Trail crosses this and is part of it for a short segment . My only issue is the amount of freeway noise in a few places, but the view of the river will keep your attention. There is easy parking at the end of E st. , off frwy 5 or Plaza Bonita shopping center. The trail head is an short walk from the E st trolley station, So in short you can travel a few trails in one.

San Diego River Trail

Superb Walking Trail

June, 2017 by mississippikite1950

I walk from OB east to where the trail meets Int 5, and back at least twice (total appx. 5 miles round trip) starting at 4:00 a.m. Takes me about 2 1/2 hours. The trail is pretty much deserted at this early hour, for me at age 66 its a great start to the day. I love this wonderful trail!

Take the trail from the ocean to Guajome Regional Park

April, 2017 by waterzoo

Heading east from the ocean, cross under College Blvd, continue on the more recent trail addition, arriving at Andrew Jackson St.
Turn left on this residential road, follow as it becomes Tyler St. Watch for the trail sign on the left.
Turn left, continue eastward on the trail, end at Santa Fe Ave. parking area at San Luis Rey Mission Expressway (Highway 76).
Turn left, staying on the dirt path on the north side of the highway, going east, then turn right to take an underpass to enter Guajome Regional Park.
There are dirt paths for walking, running, bicycling there.

San Luis Rey River Trail

What a fun ride!

April, 2017 by jrudin123

We rode this trail from Mance Buchanon Park all the way to the ocean. Parking was great, bathrooms at the park were ok but lacking toilet paper and paper towels in the women's restroom, and access to the trail was easy. The trail itself is nice, spacious, and the paving is great for biking. We loved that all of the street crossings were done with underpasses, and only had to stray from the trail at the very end and cross one street to get to the beach. Our total ride, including getting to the beach, was about 15 miles round trip, and it was a really nice ride the whole way through. I would highly recommend this trail to anyone

Bayshore Bikeway

Fun. scenic and windy

April, 2017 by tedleeds

Just a word of caution, don't miss the sharp left turn near the start that runs you parallel with 5. We missed it and rode about 3 miles in the wrong direction. The turn off sign was spray painted with graffiti, And it led right onto another trail so easy to miss especially if you are from out of town. But overall it was awesome and I would highly recommend. Just not on a beach cruiser from a hotel!!
