Guadalupe River Trail

Did the south portion

August, 2017 by bekahjoy.medina

Great for an evening run. The river/creek is full this time of year I guess. Tons of people out walking dogs and riding bikes. It is still light out even at 8:30pm. No homeless on this section of trail.

Calero Creek Trail

July, 2017 by corinnedolci

I parked on Harry Rd and walked toward Santa Teresa Park. The trail was flat, easy, and pleasant, but became untenable in the exposed section that diverged from the creek itself. Granted, it was the late afternoon in June, but it was so scorching that we had to turn back. Would try again in the early morning fall/spring, or in winter.

Coyote Creek - Safety

April, 2017 by ravigai

I have been using the trail between Heller Park to Anderson lake for a few years now. This stretch (15 miles of it) is very safe, you can see families biking/running/walking. Trail is shaded and beautiful, you can spot deer regularly. With Coyote creek itself flowing with with lots of water - the trails is amazingly beautiful.

Guadalupe River Trail

two days two different views

March, 2017 by dst852

Stayed at Hotel near airport and took trial south on Saturday. Not very pretty and lots of homeless. Next day went north which was much nicer and felt safer. Due to rain many of the tunnels were impassable.

Los Gatos Creek Trail

Beautiful trail for running

March, 2017 by vdavis2008z

I had been concerned about this trail due to reviews talking about the homeless that can be seen on this trail. As an older woman running alone, safety is a key concern. Although I did see a couple of homeless, this trail was well populated and well taken care of, so I didn't feel unsafe at all. Due to heavy rains this year, the "creek" was really a river, and was very nice to run beside, although at one point we were diverted to a street as the path was under water. There were lots of runners, walkers, bikers and skaters along the path, and they all seemed to "play nicely together". I went from one trail head for about 7 miles before returning. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire path.

Coyote Creek Trail (San Jose)

Police suggested a different trail

March, 2017 by vdavis2008z

I headed to this trail this past weekend based on the reviews that it was the nicer and safer trail in the area. I arrived at the trail head to find police activity. They were encouraging a number of homeless to move on. I asked if it was safe to run, and they said it probably would be if I stayed alert, but they recommended another trail that they felt would be safer. They encouraged me to go to Las Gatos Creek trail instead.

Guadalupe River Trail

OK - Stay Alert

December, 2016 by satrijoe

50F Sunday 9AM in Early December - Went for a quick jog.

Entered the trail from Park Ave and went North (East side) - Trail was paved and signage was OK. At Coleman Ave had to exit the East side and switch to the West side.

Crossed paths with other runners and bikers. As some other reviewers mentioned, saw a number of homeless people in the underpasses. Didn't feel threatened but would not recommend anyone to be alone and in the dark. Just not worth it.

In general, saw a lot of homeless people in downtown San Jose.

Coyote Creek Trail (San Jose)

Northern Section is paved

November, 2016 by wastedoncemore

I ran on the northern section while visiting the area on business. The trail is flat, paved, and quite nice. I saw some geese and a crane around the trail. The trail had squished snails and geese poop, but not an overwhelming amount. Seems like the trail could be extended further, but it's nice for its small section.

Los Gatos Creek Trail

Trail Etiquette

October, 2016 by lisamaristockdale

They only downfall about this trail is the amount of traffic and people on it with no sense of trail etiquette especially for bikers. We came across multiple people who were just stopped in the middle of the trail talking with no concept of their surroundings. Please step off the trail or take a seat at the bench if you would like to partake in social hour. Thanks.

Easy and convenient

Guadalupe River Trail

Okay, but not safe feeling

May, 2016 by rumusicmajor

So, it's scenic, and pretty, I'll give you that. But as a small female running alone (on a business trip, no one else to go with me) I never really felt safe.

Came from the convention center area, ran south, gave up when it seemed to dead end into housing. Continued north, gave up when I had to cross yet another street. If I were a large man, or in a group, this would be better. But running under bridges where people are camped out and staring at you isn't exactly comfortable for me.

Will try a different trail later in the week.

Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail

Very Crowded but Beautiful

February, 2016 by leatherpounder

I parked in Sand City to start my ride, I used the Costco parking lot, I wouldn't do that again. Instead I would start near Lovers Point, there is lots of free parking either along the road or various pullouts just past it, then head back towards monterey. The most spectacular part of the ride was heading south along the road with a great bike lane all the way to Pebble beach and 17 mile drive. The Ocean views are breathtaking!!
