Miners Ravine Trail

My first love trail!

October, 2017 by cherlynortiz

I recently start experimenting with cycling and this is the very first trail I ventured out on. It's beautiful and as was my estimate of this trail, it is 7.5 miles long. We typically ride our bikes here at dusk. It has very few people then. We sorta race through the trail all the way to downtown Roseville to Harding Blvd, then turn around and go all the way back to Orvieto Drive. I haven't quite made it all the way to Sierra College or Miners Ravine side but I'm working on it. Last night we were there pretty late and we seen a coyote. He was glorious! We seen him but stayed our distance. This whole trail runs along a beautiful creek. The nature here is almost surreal. It even has Maudie Native American grinding stones. This trail is awesome. Come & explore!

Humbug-Willow Creek Trail

Great Running Trail!

August, 2017 by fonzoozal

I started on the trailhead by lake Natoma and ran out 4.5 miles and back. It's mostly asphalt, but there is usually a dirt path on the side. No bike traffic at all. You go under a couple bridges which I think is really cool! Definitely suggest running there and I'll run there again soon for sure.

Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues Trail

Keeps getting better

July, 2017 by melissa24

The trail is expanding; by fall 2017 it will be complete! Right now it takes you past the historic prison and you get to see great views of the lake (which has recovered nicely from previous years' droughts and is full and lovely).

I can't wait to try it again this fall once done and go back behind the City Hall over the wooden bridge and see views of the American River.

Paradise Memorial Trailway

Terrible - No stars, not one.

July, 2017 by concowshanni

Almost no shade on entire trail with miles of absolutely no shade, almost all direct sun at temps of 90-105 all summer long, no water fountains or bathrooms on entire 5 mile trail except for one park on Black Olive Rd at Pearson Rd, and the rest is miles of hot sun and nowhere to pee or get a drink if you run out of water. Not good for moms with kids. Someone will have to pee and you'll be miles from the nearest bathroom, and nowhere to covertly pee in the bushes either, as if anyone would even want to. Landscape is dry, dusty with scrubby dusty bushes, unappealing to look at. People don't clean up their dog's crap, most probably because the few garbage cans there is are miles apart too. Everywhere you look is trash, broken glass, and dried dog crap. Especially lots of trash on trail where it goes past the local high school. Smell of marijuana being smoked is also strong there. Not where I want to push my kids in their stroller so I can get some exercise. I have to either walk at the local cemetery where their are hobos lurking from the perimeter trees, but there is a bathroom and water, or drive miles away to Paradise lake trail, (with clean port-o-potty's but no drinking water), or drive miles away to Bidwell Park in Chico. It's a real pain in the *** to have to drive out of town to get some decent walking with kids or risk it with the cemetery hobos because the Paradise Train Trail is so terrible.

Chico Airport Bike Path

Homeless

June, 2017 by pvphoto

Other than the homeless and the just plain obnoxious people the route is great and I have been riding this route for many years. Recently the rest area at the top entering the airport was destroyed, and with the hot weather this could be a problem for some less fit riders!

American River Bike Trail (Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail)

My American River Trail Ride May 14, 2017

May, 2017 by daleposey@gmail.com

I rode from Old Town to the Nimbus Fish Hatchery and back to car in Old town.
Pros: The trail is a beautiful paved trail that meanders along the American river from Sacramento to Lake Folsom. Just a slight grade up as you ride east.
Cons: Many homeless encampments along first four miles of trail near Sacramento. I have heard of crime occurring upon cyclists riding through this area.
Cycle time; 3:45 Hours
Distance 49 miles.

Folsom South Canal

May, 2017 by jimv960

Rode it 5/19/2017, from Aquatic center, take Gold Country (Aquatic Center Exit) to Trubutary Crossing (south) to enter Folsom South Canal. Nice ride to Sunrise Blvd......with a convenient Subway at the end. All flat, zero traffic hazard.

Dry Creek Parkway

Short and Sunny Trail

September, 2016 by dalamar49

Parked on the South end of the trail. Biked North along the creekside. The trail lacks shade. Bring a hat for shade. Lots of dirt paths branch out from the paved bike path for additional riding.

Miners Ravine Trail

Roseville Oasis

September, 2016 by dalamar49

Parked near Darling in the South and biked North to False Ravine Park. Be aware there is some elevation along the way, but its managable.

The sculpture park is a nice stop along the way. Visit the tall, red Cosmos sculpture I've driven by a thousand times.

The part near downtown Roseville is awkward. Be careful biking through Linda Dr as it is a one way street. It looks like Roseville is almost finished with a new segment of the bike path that will replace the detour along Linda Dr.

Overall a nice ride.

El Dorado Trail

Honest Climb

July, 2016 by gawarner2

In selfishness, I wouldn't write about this trail, because I wouldn't want to have to share it with anyone else. But I just have to say, riding this trail from the Placerville Station east to the end of the paved portion is a neat, tidy, beautiful workout, which you can fit into less than an hour start to end. It's only something like 4.9 miles each way, but going eastward, it probably averages about a 6% grade, I would guesstimate. It's just a pure, honest workout riding east, if you push it, and then the return trip is an excellent reward. It's a pleasure to ride on my Trek hybrid.
