Overview
The North River Walk Trail runs alongside the American River through West Sacramento for 1.7 miles. The entire route is flat and paved.
About the Route
Leaving off from the trail's northern endpoint, where parking is also available, the trail heads south from the Broderick Boat Ramp along a flat wide asphalt path. As the trail approaches the I St. Bridge, trail users must take a small detour around the active rail tracks. The trail swings west and then follows a narrow concrete path around 2nd St., and then south to cross 3rd St., and then east along D St., until reaching the main trail path once again.
This section of the trail, which runs through River Walk Park, features a well-lit extra-wide path, frequent benches, and landscaped greenery.
At the Tower Bridge Greenway, the trail is interrupted, and trail users should use the crossing at Riverfront St. to continue along the trail. The southernmost section of the trail runs along an asphalt path until reaching the Mill Street Pier. A notable site along the way is Drake's: The Barn, a beer garden located right off the trail.
The North River Walk Trail runs between Mill St. River Access (West Sacramento) and the Broderick Boat Ramp, 103 4th St. (West Sacramento), where parking is available.
