Overview
The Del Rio Trail is a 5-mile rail-trail in the City of Sacramento, CA. The paved trail is ADA compliant.
About the Route
Running parallel to Freeport Boulevard with easy access from the surrounding neighborhoods and a connection to the Sacramento River Trail, the Del Rio Trail offers opportunities for both recreation and active transportation.
From its northern end at about Sutterville Road, the rail-trail runs south on an abandoned railway corridor paralleling Freeport Boulevard and I-5 to downtown Sacramento. The route passes residences, businesses, schools, shops, several parks, and more. Points of interest along the way include the Sacramento Zoo, William Land Regional Park, Argonaut Park, and Edwin L. Z’Berg Park.
Whether commuting, exercising or just enjoying some time outdoors, this trail is for you!
Connections
The Del Rio Trail will connect at both ends to the Sacramento River Parkway trail via bridges over Riverside Boulevard and I-5 being constructed during the summer of 2024.
The Del Rio Trail runs between Sutterville Rd and Pocket Rd in Sacramento.
Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) bus system has stops near both ends of the trail. Visit the TrailLink map for all options and detailed directions.
Started the trail at the water tower. Really nice to finally have a trail that connects to Sacramento. Had to cross streets but it was worth it for the ride.
