The winding Natomas Westside Path provides a connection from Sacramento's growing North Natomas community to South Natomas and the American River Bike Trail, largely facilitated by the installation of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Interstate 80. Together, the trails allow commuters and recreational trail enthusiasts alike to utilize active transportation to travel to and from downtown Sacramento.
The trail passes through several city parks on its route, including San Juan Reservoir Park, Peregrine Park, Barandas Park, Orchard Park and Natomas Oaks Park at trail's end. To reach the American River Bike Trail in Discovery Park from Natomas Oaks Park, trail users must travel east on Garden Highway a short distance to reach a connector trail. That trail begins at Gateway Oaks Drive and runs east along the southern side of Garden Highway to its end at the entrance to Discovery Park.
Limited parking for the Natomas Westside Path is available across from Witter Way on San Juan Road.
Pretty scenery abounds on this lovely trail. It's relatively short which makes it do-able for most people. It would be hard to beat this trail for a morning stroll in Sacramento. We are fortuante to live a stone's throw away from the south entrance.
