The Yolo Causeway Bike Path follows a portion of the Yolo Causeway, which carries busy Interstate 80 over the Yolo Bypass floodplain. Beginning in West Sacramento, the path immediately parallels the highway, making for a loud and windy trip westward towards Davis.
While few consider this trail a dream destination, its utility makes it well-traveled by locals. From the eastern endpoint, continue through West Sacramento on W. Capitol Avenue and then Tower Bridge Gateway to reach Sacramento. Both roads offer bike lanes for at least a portion of their route. In the west, take County Route 32A a short distance to reach the Old Highway 40 Bike Path, which whisks trail users into Davis.
There are no parking areas for the Yolo Causeway Bike Path. The trail can be accessed from W. Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento and County Route 32A east of Davis.
The only shade is from mosquitoes, there was no water, restrooms or benches, just call it a different view of the bypass with plenty of noise from the freeway, I turned back towards Sacramento about as soon as I crossed the bypass, my brother went into Davis, I think most of the riders that use it live in Davis and I guess it gets used by commuters, do not expect it to be nice as the American River Bike Trail...
