Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail

Migration & Immigration Mining & Logging Ways of Living

Using original artifacts from early 20th century households, the Carbon Hill School Museum illustrates life in Grundy and Will Counties during the early 1900s.

Carbon Hill Historical Society has made its home in this 1893 Illinois schoolhouse, creating a museum dedicated to life in Grundy and Will counties during the early 1900s. By using original artifacts from early 20th century households, coal fields and the schoolhouse, the Carbon Hill School Museum highlights stories of immigration, coal mining and education.

Visiting hours and location details can be found on the Coal City Public Library District website.
