The “Tower of Voices” consists of 40 wind chimes, each representing one of the passengers and crew members on Flight 93.
The Flight 93 National Memorial honors the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93 who died during the events that unfolded on Sept. 11, 2001, when their plane and three other commercial airliners were hijacked. The hijackings resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people.
Exhibits at the site interpret the events of that day, when the passengers and crew of Flight 93 fought back against the hijackers to prevent the plane from striking its intended target in the Washington, D.C., area.
