On the edge of Hagerstown City Park, the former residence of town founder Jonathan Hager is now a museum that pays tribute to Hagerstown’s early days. Built in 1739, the home was purchased by the Washington County Historical Society in 1944 and refurbished with authentic furnishings and artifacts from the 18th century. The Hager House Museum opened to the public in 1962—the bicentennial anniversary of Hagerstown.
