Located next to CSX Railroad, the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum is devoted to educating the public about the city’s railroad history. Although the original Hagerstown Roundhouse —once a major maintenance facility for the railroads in Western Maryland— was demolished in 1999, the museum displays images of the structure for visitors to view. In addition to historical photos, the museum features a railroad library and restored railway equipment such as passenger and freight cars, lanterns and whistles.
