Ideal Company Department Store

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

Commerce, Economy & Work

The building previously known as the Ideal Company Department Store is now Massillon Center Apartments.

The Ideal Company Department Store opened its doors in 1921 in Stark County, Ohio, and was closed by the late 1950s. While gazing up at the eight-story building, it’s clear to see the architect, Robert Powell, designed the building with retail in mind. The structure has since been converted into Massillon Center Apartments, making for a convenient location for residents to live in the heart of downtown Massillon.

National Register of Historic Places. Ideal Company Department Store, Massillon, Stark County, OH. National Register #92001245.
