Thomas P. Kennard (1828–1920) was the first secretary of state of Nebraska from 1866 until 1871. As one of the first structures built in the state capital, this house is the oldest building in present-day Lincoln. It was constructed in 1869. The house was restored in the late 1960s, preserving some of its original Victorian furnishings.
