The Circus Hall of Fame in Peru, Indiana, now houses a collection originally residing in Sarasota, Florida. The Hall of Fame is closely associated with Peru’s own Wallace Circus, which was the main competitor to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The state of Indiana, along with some private citizens, bought the Circus Hall of Fame’s artifacts in the 1980s, when the Sarasota museum was set to close, relocating them to Peru. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
