Discovered this comfortable place with great accommodations for two bike travelers. They offer a pullout sofa if you do not wish to share a bed. Indoor bike storage with a comfy bed and a hot shower! Distillery right next-door and two restaurants to fuel up in the morning to get back on the trail. Close to the panhandle of West Virginia. Their name is Harmony Trail Haven on Airbnb.
Knowing Chief Standing Bear trail is connected to the homestead trail and Jamaica trail to the north. It was a surprise to see the trailhead facilities were top notice, nice picnic area with tables, restrooms. The trails for a good portion are completely tree covered with the blue river running to the side and crossing the trail at times. Of course the towns you do come to have very limited stores or much to do. I was very impressed with the trail, it’s one I plan to ride many more times.
Drove up here from Denver for a three day weekend to ride 150 miles of this trail. Valentine to Woodlake and back was an excellent condition. I can happily report no goat head flats. Love that this trail happened. I'm a huge advocate of rails to trails. The peace and quiet is outstanding and the scenery off the highway is lovely.
8’ wide concrete trail over 6 miles long. Parking lots available along the trail with multiple picnic spots. Awesome trail for many uses close to the heart of Omaha!
Highly recommend this beautiful and well kept trail. Beautiful to ride along the trees and over the 2 epic ohiopyle bridges.
We left from Brownsville on our recumbent trikes. About 1/2 mile in, ran into a good wash out that we had to carry trikes across. This was not a surprise due to serious storms and rain a couple of days ago. There were a few smaller washout spots. At about 6,5 miles out, we ran into a bunch of trees that had been cleared off the trail. Thank you to all that are taking care of this trail. At about 7.5 miles we had to turn around due to a huge tree across the trail from our last storm. This was a great trail with great scenery. We definitely will be riding it more this year. Still need to check out the portion north of Peru also.
Great views clean paths and wide space for bikes
There is a horse trail that parallels this trail. It's a nice trail except where some horses have used it travelling along and causing depressions. Horses need to use their own trail provided for them.

This smooth, concrete trail is flat and wide. Park at Ft. Kearney State Park and it is 1.8 miles to the I-80 underpass where the trail continues as the Kearney Hike and Bike Trail for several more miles. In the 1.8 miles there are several benches and two very nice pavilions with tables. The very long wooden bridge, crossing the Platte River is a bumpy ride due to the knotty wood boards used for the floor. The views of the Platte River are beautiful and we saw several great blue heron there. There is a second concrete bridge also crossing the river. Restroom facilities are found. Campground.
