Print Friendly MapThe River Bluff Trail follows the Eel River for 1.3 miles along an elevated, paved surface, traversing some wooded areas. There are no street crossings along the way; the trail stretches between SR 25/Michigan Avenue and Davis Road at Chieftain Row. The trail is accessible to persons of all abilities (accessibility is at the parking lot off Davis Road or Michigan Avenue). The trail is owned and managed by the Memorial Hospital Foundation to promote healthy lifestyles.
Parking is available at both ends of the trail: SR 25/Michigan Avenue just north of the river and just off Davis Road along Chieftain Row.
The River Bluff Trail is a pleasant, well maintained trail with a lot of shade that makes an enjoyable trip whether day or evening. There are several places to stop throughout with benches or picnic tables. Several worn trails spur off to the Eel River, especially near the dam. After leaving the trail, you can traverse through downtown and connect to the Little Turtle Waterway along the Wabash River. This is another great trail which hopefully will be extended soon. A path on the western end of the Little Turtle extends down to an area where you can view the confluence of the Eel and Wabash Rivers.
