Bachman Lake Park Loop Trail Description

Overview

The Bachman Lake Park Loop Trail follows the shoreline of Bachman Lake within Bachman Lake Park for 3.5 miles.

About the Route

Along its short 3.5-mile route, the Bachman Lake Park Loop Trail offers several amenities. A great place to start the loop is the Bachman Recreation Center, which offers a fitness center, aquatic center, and outdoor playground. Bachman Lake itself also provides scenic views along the trail.

The entire trail is just a stone's throw from Dallas Love Field Airport, so trail users might be able to see planes landing and taking off nearby.

Parking and Trail Access

The Bachman Lake Park Loop Trail runs in a complete circle around Bachman Lake.

Parking is available at:

  • Bachman Recreation Center, 2750 Bachman Dr. (Dallas)

Please see TrailLink Map for detailed directions.

Bachman Lake Park Loop Trail Reviews

Good for walking/running

This is a paved trail that is typically 2 lanes wide, narrowing to a single lane on bridges. As others have noted it can be noisy due to proximity to Love Field airport. My primary negative is that about half the trail runs adjacent to streets, which means inhaling the exhaust from the passing cars. How bad a problem this is will vary by the amount of traffic at any given time. Here on traillink.com the trail is described as 3.5 miles in length while at alltrails.com it is described as 3 miles (= 5k). I don't know who is closer to accurate. This trail has benches for resting along the route, and playgrounds for children.

perfect 5k training trail

Parking along Shoreline is best if you are coming by to do a single 5k loop. The parking lot is usually crowded and has kids parties with music. There is a great hill around back so its not just a flat surface. Perfect loop trail to trail on.

One and Done

This trail is a good length for a walk—3.5 mile concrete trail around a man made lake with just a bit of shade. It seems like a popular place to walk, ride, or fish. However, it’s near Dallas Love, the light rail, and some busy streets. It’s like experiencing a sampling of transportation. It’s the first trail I’ve been on with lots of signs for calling 911. Not sure what that says about this trail. Park in the lots near Lakefield and Northwest. There are much prettier trails than this one.

Under construction

Much of the trail is under construction and not accessable at this time.

ABUELO

I WALK THIS TAILS AS OFTEN AS 5 DAYS A WEEK. HAVE BEEN WALKING FOR A LONG TIME. BIKERS COULD WARN WALKERS WHEN PASSING.

EVERYONE SHOULD BE AWARE, THE ROAD TO PROGRESS IS ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

SEE YOU ON THE TRAIL.

What would make this place better?

I recently visited this park as well. I thought it had great potential to be great again. Currently there is a lot of construction, however, the paved trail that encompasses the park is still intact.

If there was one thing that would fix this park to make it enjoyable again, what would it be?

Women don't go here!

Lots of men just waiting around in the parking lot. Very unsafe feeling. I was told later that they were all just waiting for the prostitutes to show up. It's unfortunate because there are some children's play grounds there as well.
Also, the sidewalk is torn up pretty badly on the back end (by the airfield). I will never return to this place.

trail under renovation

Nice trail around the lake; however, a good portion of the trail is under renovation. We were forced to ride on the beaten down grass path that is mostly used by pedestrians. Just not worth the trip at this point. We would consider heading back when construction is complete. Definitely a beginner trail, not a ton of inclines to work with.

Good location, good workout

This trail is close enough for all residents living inside the loop. It is long enough and has 3 slopes for a good workout . It is narrow at times and can get crowded at times. Therefore I would say its good for beginner trail bikers who do not gain a lot of speed. There are planes landing at all times so at times a plane or two may pass overhead. It could be widened and made smoother to develop it further.
Water fountains are on the park side only (have not used them so far).
