Blair Brothers Trail Description

Overview

The Blair Brothers Trail is essentially an extension of the Indian Creek Valley Trail from the Jones Mills area along Indian Creek to Hunter’s Lane. The trail is 1.4 miles long.

About the Route

This trail is on the Forbes State Forest. It provides access to excellent fishing in upper Indian Creek and connects to other trails in the Mountain Streams Area of the state forest. The trail, while open to multi-use, is comprised of a rougher surface and is better suited for mountain bikes.

Connections

At the southern end of the trail, trail users can continue along the Indian Creek Valley Trail.

Trail History

The Blair Brothers Railroad was a short line that ran between Jones Mills and Kregar and was used to service the Blair Lumber Company and the Blair Brothers coal mines in Kregar. This was actually the northern terminus of the Indian Creek Valley Railroad, but this one-and-a-half-mile section was called the Blair Brothers Railroad. The line was abandoned in 1969.

Parking and Trail Access

The Blair Brothers Trail runs between PA 381 (Jones Mill), where parking is available, and Hunters Lane (Jones Mill).

Blair Brothers Trail Reviews

Nice extension when riding the Indian Creek Valley Trail

I rode this trail a week ago as part of a loop on the Indian Creek Valley Trail. The trail is easy to find and was relatively easy to ride on a gravel bike with 700 x 38 tires. There is a trail that splits off halfway but just stay straight and you'll be fine. There's really no issues with riding this unless you're trying to ride it on a skinny tire road bike. I enjoyed the trail.
