Colchester Bayside to Village Path Reviews

Mixed trail

We were staying in the Lone Pine RV park and decided to check this out. It was part roadway part bike path to Lake Champlain. The signage when along residential streets were not great. We missed a turn and shortly after realized we were no longer on the trail, checked this app and saw where we were supposed to go. It’s a trail I wouldn’t go out of my way to do.

Great Trail to Ride a Trikke or rollerblade!

My husband and I rode this trail on a Thursday morning. We parked in the Bayside Park parking lot, where E. and W. Lakeshore Drives intersect.

We found the trail to be wide, smooth and in good repair! (Kudos to whomever maintains this trail!)

The path starts through the park and continues on to the Colchester High School and Middle School off Blakely Road. This section is fairly flat. After that the hills begin!

The parts of the trail that were on the road were fine, and it didn't feel unsafe at any point. The crossing points are well marked with "Zebra" crosswalks. Where needed, there are buttons to push to make the traffic light change for safe crossing.

The section that runs along Bay Road (under Route 89) is very steep down and up.

The section through the woods, traveling FROM Bay Road is a challenging hill as well.
