Field Club Trail Description

Following a former railroad route, the Field Club Trail spans nearly 2 miles in one of Omaha's older neighborhoods. The northern portion of the trail—beginning just south of the University of Nebraska Medical Center—is unique in that it lies 30 feet below-grade, lending a secluded feel and sheltering trail users from the surrounding city din.

As the trail continues south, it passes through a tree-lined corridor sandwiched between the Field Club of Omaha golf course, civic sites and urban backyards. The trail then runs through Harrison Heights Park before ending at old grain silos on Vinton Street.

The quiet and scenic trail has less traffic than other Omaha trails, and there are few road crossings. On its southern end, the trail connects to the South Omaha Trail, which in turn ties into other trails in the city's vast network.

Parking and Trail Access

A small parking lot is located off Woolworth Avenue near the Field Club Trail's midpoint, just west of where the trail goes under the street.

shady urban refuge

This is a nice refuge in the middle of urban Omaha and can easily be walked in 1-1.5 hours. The flat terrain and shade accommodates those who wish to walk, jog, bike, blade and use strollers. This is trail also accommodates individuals needing handicapped accessibility. (Note: no restrooms along trail)
