The Iron Horse trail is a multi-use 2-mile trail located in Montpelier, OH, with one mile of paved asphalt trail with two boardwalks, and another mile of rustic dirt + grass trail. The improved trail is ADA-accessible and is for non-motorized users.
About the Route
This rustic trail navigates through old-growth forests where trail users will be sure to encounter many types of wildlife. There is a one-mile paved loop that travels between Jonesville St. and E Main St., and north of that is a one-mile dirt and grass trail that travels up to parallel the St. Joseph's River and connects to a 0.75-mile single-track mountain bike course.
The Iron Horse River Trail runs between 325 N Jonesville St. (Montpelier) and Fairgrounds, 619 E Main St. (Montpelier).

I enjoy walking and riding my bike on both the paved and unpaved portions of the trail. Great river views with Deer, Fox, Turkey and Eagle among other wildlife. The Williams County Veterans Memorial is a very short distance from the east entrance to the trail on the fairgrounds and well worth the extra ride.
Split into two sections, one paved and the other wooded with packed dirt, it's a decent trail but nothing special.
The first part is completely paved with not a single bump or crack that I saw, and the second is the wooded part that's a bit rougher though with a better view of the St. Joseph's River.
