The JWP Trail follows along the south side of John Wesley Powell Boulevard between the eastern end of where the boulevard currently reaches its southern end at Lake Mary Road. Where the trail intersects South Lone Tree Road, trail users can pass under the boulevard and pick up the Lone Tree Trail. At the eastern end, the JWP Trail intersects with the Fisher Point Trail.
A formal parking area and trailhead for the JWP Trail are located just north of J.W. Powell Boulevard where it intersects Lone Tree Road.
