The Nix Creek Trail makes for a pleasant walk or ride along the stream of the same name. Beginning on Arkansas Boulevard, where there is a small parking area, the trail travels through North Texarkana Park, before coming to the first of the road crossings on this route. The next leg of the trail skirts the edge of the Ed Worrell Memorial Park, which features lighted baseball diamonds and concession stands. You'll hit the 1 mile marker just before you emerge on 24th Street.
From there, the Nix Creek is lined with trees on one side, with the creek on the other side. Past 18th Street, the trail is in shrouded in tree cover as it the runs along the eastern edge of Arkansas High School property. The next street crossing is on 12th Street and takes cyclists into Jefferson Park, which features the punnily-named JefFURson Dog Park. The trail's conclusion is on Broad Street, next to the Gateway Farmers Market.
At the north end, park at the Arkansas Boulevard Trailhead, opposite Pinson Drive. If you want to start from the south end, park at the Gateway Farmers Market (600-660 Jefferson Ave.) The parks in between provide additional parking options: Jefferson Park (E 12th Street, Texarcana); Ed Worrell Park (East 35th and Forestwood Streets, Texarcana)
