Parking is available at many places around the lake, although spaces get crowded during summer.
This trail is 50/50 due to the one side where you can come off of the SoPac to Lawther is ok. Dont mind cars as im sure they’re aware of cyclist in the area. But the side of the trail that parallels with buckingham/Garland Rd is the worst as you get people who decide to run on the opposite flow of traffic horrible terrain and always seems to be far too crowded to get a decent ride in
Great place for your long run. Good loop, and safe. Even terrain. Great views.
This is the best trail that city of DALLAS can offer. Well maintained and beautiful on its eastern side. Improvement is going on on western side of the trail, hopefully it will be completed very soon. Highly recommended ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
Inline skater here. This one is a Hell yea .
This trail is beautiful!
Went around the entire loop today. West side of the trail was absolutely gorgeous, smooth pavement, massive and beautiful houses. Pretty flat except for two decent slopes when passing the pump house and the damn. Other than that only gradual slopes up or down. West side of the trail has a section where the pavement got so bad for so long I took my skates off for the last few hundred feet of it. Very rough, cracked, gravely, not fun.
It's unusual to find such a nice, well maintained loop in the city where you can park and ride easily. Well used with many walkers, dogs and kids to watch out for but most are watchful of being passes. It's an easy scenic loop with pretty lake view for most of it . The trail connects to the White Rock Creek path if you want more distance.
Great place for family and friend.
I have been riding this trail for the past 4 years and always love this trail. It has a great deal of variety and is very scenic. You can ride around the lake or head downtown! Gets a little busy during the summer on the weekend mornings, but never too bad.
Well worth going to. Take the entire family here. You can bike, walk, lay on the grass under the trees. They have it all. Maybe the east side can be a little rough in small spots but it has many great areas to sit have a picnic etc. They also have paddle boats and sail boats to rent in the summer time. Must see!
Rode this for the first time 6/06/2017. My son and I went all the way around the lake. This is a great bike trail! I found that it was well maintained, the views are great, and there are all kinds of people out enjoying the trail. Kids with training wheels, all the way up to very experienced riders flying by on their road bikes. We rode it on a Tuesday, so it wasn't too busy. My son has been there on the weekend, and it gets kinda crazy. Lots more people. The ride doesn't have too many elevation changes, but there are a few that work you. Overall, it's a great ride!
Great ride. So many different paths to take or just stay on the main path.
First time to ride the trail. Catch it from 635 & Hillcrest @Valley View Park and connected to the edge of White Rock Lake @Lawther. Thoroughly enjoyed the trail as it winds behind soccer fields, restaurants off Forest, and new modern homes going up close to Royal & Walnut Hill. A lot of foot traffic as well as seasoned bikers. Beware the paved stripes are faded and the trail can get down to narrow parts. Overall I love the connection. Ps. If riding to the lake always stay RIGHT as the trails branch off to shorter trail heads on the way.
Did the trail around the lake and was disappointed on the. East side of the lake. The trail is not being maintained so it is rougher than a cob. The West side is all maintIned nicely. I would stick to the West side of the lake and just enjoy what there is until Dallas gets around to doing something.
