Clarksburg Branch Line Trail

California

After about 1.25 miles of asphalt, the trail continues as a gravel path. At this point, there is a shopping center to the right with connecting paths to it. Perhaps, West Sacramento can pave more of the path under CA's 'Active Transportation Program'.

The railroad tracks were completely straight and the trail follows the old rail precisely.

Most noticeable about the trail are the old Oak trees and growth that reminds you that rivers are nearby. The trail goes by a couple of ponds near where it crosses Lake Washington Blvd. Where the trail crosses roads, traffic does not stop. Take care.

A 1.25 mile paved section of this trail opened Feb 2014 and begins where South River Rd ends at Jefferson Blvd and where off-street parking is available at the Barge Canal Recreational Access. There is also off-street parking near Lake Washington Blvd.
