Wetlands in the Loyalhanna Creek oxbow, Westmoreland Heritage Trail
After 2000, 90% of acid mine drainage was removed from Loyalhanna Creek when a remediation pond was completed near St. Vincent College in Latrobe. The boggy area in one of its many oxbow bends looked like a good place to look for turtles and frogs.
