The Azalea Trail offers glimpses of nature as it follows Hurricane Creek through the heart of Lufkin, an small east Texas city. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of native plants and small gardens, and may see numerous bird species, including owls, woodpeckers, and warblers.
Although just under 2 miles, the trail connects two well-loved community parks. On its north end, much of Kiwanis Park is wooded. Here, you'll find a disc golf course and picnic areas. On its southern end, the larger Grace Dunne Richardson Park offers a wealth of recreational opportunities, including a playground, basketball and volleyball courts, and a soccer field.
You'll also be able to access two retail areas: Angelina Village Shopping Center and the Lufkin Mall.
Parking is available at either end of the trail: in Kiwanis Park (Timberland Drive and S. First Street) and at Grace Dunne Richardson Park (200 Mott Drive).
