Campbell Creek Greenway Description

The Campbell Creek Greenway is a 1.8-mile paved trail that runs through Mecklenburg County in the greater Charlotte metropolitan area. The greenway is surrounded by beautiful natural areas, including wetlands and forests, providing a peaceful and natural environment for all to enjoy.

One of the most striking features of the Campbell Creek Greenway is the creek itself. The trail runs parallel to Campbell Creek, which provides a beautiful backdrop as well as a source of relaxation with the soothing sound of flowing water. The creek is home to a variety of wildlife, including fish, turtles, and birds.

While on the trail, look for the abandoned Lucas family grist mill or keep an eye for a Queen snake, the last recorded sighting of which was in the early 1990's in Mecklenburg County. The wide, smooth trail surface makes it easy to navigate and there are benches along the route. There are also multiple access points to the trail from the surrounding neighborhoods.

At its southern end, the trail connects with the McAlpine Creek Greenway. Together they provide a continuous 6.2-mile route from Providence Rd/NC-16 to Lockmont Drive.

Parking and Trail Access

The Charlotte Area Transit System provides access to the trail. Refer to the CATS website for more information.

Parking is available near the southern end of the trail at 2116 Margaret Wallace Rd (a gravel lot across from Fire Station).
