Charles F. McGlashan Pathway Description

The San Francisco Bay area's Charles F. McGlashan Pathway was once known as the Tennessee Valley Pathway, but was renamed to honor a former Marin County Supervisor and a passionate active transportation advocate. The trail was developed as part of the Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program, a federal funding effort to support more walking and biking infrastructure in Marin County and three other communities nationwide.

Located at the southern end of the county in Mill Valley, the paved pathway (with a short boardwalk section) offers pleasant views of Coyote Creek on one side and lush hillsides on the other. At its eastern end, it connects to the Mill Valley/Sausalito Multiuse Pathway, a scenic and popular rail-trail that is also a component of the larger San Francisco Bay Trail system. On its western end, it offers access to the Tam Valley Community Center.

Parking and Trail Access

On the trail's western end, parking is available at the Tam Valley Community Center (203 Marin Avenue). A spur on its eastern end leads to the Manzanita Park and Ride Lot (Shoreline Highway/State Route 1).
