Chisholm Trail Reviews

I rode this, today, for the first time. For a city trail, it's very good. I would rank it in the top 5 trails in Dallas County, and I have ridden most of them. It's a nice long trail with few stops because the trail goes under the major streets. All concrete and in good shape. Very scenic because it runs beside a creek. For the majority of the trail, you can ride on both sides of the creek. Water fountains are everywhere. This goes through multiple parks. Good job, Plano!

Wonderful trail for bike riding,. peaceful and pretty. only two small roads to cross so no car traffic to worry about. great creek with ducks for viewing along the ride.

I ran on the trail for about 4.3 miles. Tree cover and creek are very nice, it's well lit enough to feel safe and so you can see obstacles. There are plenty of water fountains and bathrooms. They have many of the water fountains turned off but there are a few that are still working during the winter. Very few road crossings.

I really enjoyed this trail! there are so many offshoots and deviations that you can a different route each time and not get bored.

A great urban trail that goes along a creek and passes woods, parks, ponds, neighborhoods and office buildings. A little bit of everything! Wide enough to accommodate both cyclists and walkers/runners where everyone is pleasant and sends up a hearty "' 'Morning " as you pass.

Best trail in Plano for longer un-interrupted runs. You only have to contend with street traffic at a couple of residential intersections. The ability to branch off onto the bluebonnet trail to extend longer runs is nice too.

The Chisholm Trail is one of Plano's original trails, I believe. It runs along a creek from Northwest to Southeast, and in on both sides of the creek for most of the way. This makes it nice as a loop, as opposed to an out and back trail. It starts on the Northern end at the Bluebonnet Trail near the Dog Park. This is an area to be careful in due to heavy traffic in dogs and people -- just slow down and be nice!

It was originally a fairly narrow concrete trail. Parts of it have been upgraded and made much wider. The overall condition is good, and when problems arise, the City repairs them quickly. There are some underpasses under bridges on the trail. A couple of them have perpetual drainage water and can be slick, but the distance is short. It runs along the creek, and lake, making for a pretty view, and is peaceful. At the Southern end are several restaurants, coffeeshops, etc., making it a nice destination ride. Also, near 16th street is the Sr. Citizens Center. In the park behind this is a restroom and water, although the restroom in closed on freezing days. There is a nice new all year restroom just to the North of the Veteran's Memorial about a mile South of the North end.

This trail has moderate traffic, and goes through soccer fields, so be careful and watch for other users. Of all the trials in Plano, I find myself riding this and the Bluebonnet the most.
