Crescent Park Trail Description

Crescent Park is a 1.4 mile linear park located on the banks of the Mississippi River, just outside New Orlean's popular French Quarter. Built as part of a post-Katrina revitalization effort, the park offers a smooth asphalt trail through its beautifully landscaped grounds for walkers and bikers to enjoy.

Before the park was built, residents in the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods had no means to safely access the river across active railroad tracks and industrial buildings. Now, residents can safely cross the tracks and enjoy this little slice of nature. The trail begins where the French Quarter and Marigny neighborhoods meet, and continues to the east, paralleled by the railroad tracks to one side and the river to the other. A pedestrian bridge around the midway point provides access to convenient parking off of Chartres Street and offers stunning views of the river and New Orlean's downtown. The trail continues through the Bywater neighborhood before ending at another convenient lot off of Mazant Street.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the lot off of Chartres Street and Piety Street about midway through the park, and also at the park's eastern end on Mazant Street, just off of Chartres Street.

To reach the park from out of town, take I-10 into New Orleans and look for exit 237 to get on Elysian Fields Ave. Take Elysian Fields Ave south towards the French Quarter, and turn left onto Chartres Street. Proceed east along Chartres Street until you reach the intersection with Piety Street - the parking lot and pedestrian bridge will be on the right.

Crescent Park Trail Reviews

Perfect name

The park is too short is my only complaint😀. Fantastic views of the crescent on river. Great landscaping. Nice morning ride.
