The Evansdale Nature Trail connects both residential and commercial areas in the northeastern Iowa city of Evansdale. One of the most charming aspects of the trail is the abundance of trees along its length, providing a shady, verdant setting in which to jog, walk, or ride. The paved path crosses a number of local streets as it heads south from its starting point on Lafayette Road until it ultimately crosses Arbutus Avenue to enter Meyer’s Park/Angel’s Park. Here, the trail (also known as Trail of Angels) rounds the edge of Meyer’s Lake, a favorite spot for boating and fishing. You can also find restrooms, picnic tables and a play area at the park.
Evansdale Nature Trail is a local trail with regional connections. Via Gilbert Drive, travelers can connect to one of Iowa’s most popular trails, the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, which travels 52 miles from Evansdale to Ely along the Cedar River.
There is parking at Exchange Park, right on the shore of Meyer’s Lake. The park can be found on Elmer Lane off Gilbert Drive.
