Fieldcrest Pathway Description

The Fieldcrest Pathway stretches 3 miles in the Green Oak Township, a suburb of Detroit. The trail follows Fieldcrest Drive from Lee Road south to Silver Lake Road. The paved recreational trail accommodates users of all ages and abilities, including walkers, joggers, cyclists and inline skaters. There’s some intermittent shade on the route.

The Fieldcrest Pathway is part of the Great Lake-to-Lake Trail system which will one day stretch from South Haven to Port Huron.

Parking and Trail Access

There’s no dedicated trail parking but you may be able to find a place to park at the restaurants on the north end of the trail near the Lee Road traffic circle.

Fieldcrest Pathway Reviews

An Important Link

Highly functional trail connecting Island Lake State Park to the Lakelands Trail. Parallels US-23 throughout, so expect noise and not much in the way of scenery. There is a one mile gap at the south end to reach the Lakelands Trail. Fieldcrest Road has minimal traffic and works as a connector, but use extreme caution in this stretch, especially navigating around the highway ramps.

Good hills along this stretch to provide a solid workout.

Noisy but fun

Good trail. As previous commenter mentioned, it's noisy due to US-23 traffic immediately adjacent. In good condition for cycling. There is also parking at the southern trailhead in a Park & Ride lot on Fieldcrest just north of Silver Lake Road. You'll need to cross Fieldcrest twice at the outset northbound. The gravel trail connecting to Island Lake mentioned is now listed.

More function than beauty

This trail connects the residential area along Fieldcrest to the Green Oak Village Place shopping center. It parallels US-23, making it VERY noisy, and it’s not the prettiest although there are a few visual gems as you cross the bridge over the Huron River. The path is smooth and hills are small and gentle. Maps indicate that the north end terminates at what appears to be a carpool parking lot directly across the road from Panera. However, the path continues as it skirts around the edge of the shopping center parking lots, and although I could not find it marked on any maps, there is a very smooth, short gravel path providing direct access to the road at Island Lake State Park.
