Located in the sleepy town of George, in the northwestern corner of Iowa, the George Recreational Trail provides the small community with an excellent path for recreation and exercise. The trail forms an over-three mile loop around the city, giving residents a convenient concrete path, perfect for cycling, jogging, and rollerblading.
Neighborhood streets complete the loop in the northeast and the southwest, but otherwise, the George Recreational Trail offers a continuous trail experience. The trail takes you from the residential neighborhoods in town out to the lovely natural land that surrounds the farming community, passing by the Little Rock River and the Rio Grande Creek. Keep an eye out for deer and a variety of birds on the outskirts of town - and keep an ear out for the many frogs that inhabit the ponds and creek just off the trail as well.
With numerous benches and plaques along the route, donated by members of the community, the George Recreational Trail is a great example of a community that takes pride in its trail, giving locals and visitors alike a great way of exploring all that George has to offer.
Parking is available at the city's Locker Park, located on the northwestern part of the trail on Dakota Avenue near the intersection with Main Street.
