The Hefner-Overholser Trail offers a convenient connection between two of Oklahoma City's popular reservoirs. To explore these lakes, trail users can hop on the Bert Cooper Trails at the northern trailhead or the Lake Overholser East Trail at the southern trailhead. The Hefner-Overholser Trail also provides access to the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, a natural treasure of the city.
The scenery on the southern half of the trail is fairly open, becoming densely residential as the trail approaches Lake Hefner. Along the way, the path traces the western border of the Wiley Post Airport, home to the Okie Derby (an airplane race) each August.
Parking can be found along N. Stinchcomb Avenue at the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge.
This was a nice trail to that connected the Bert Cooper trail (trail around Lake Hefner to Lake Over Holster. Only bummer is you have about 2 miles of sharing the road with traffic. Rode along side of the Willy Post Airport. We missed the turn to go over the intersection on our way to the lake but on our way back we did it correctly . This made it a better ride so just make sure you take the right path when it splits!
