Hickory Creek Bikeway Description

The Hickory Creek Bikeway offers nearly 4 miles of paved pathway through a wooded preserve. On its western end, the trail begins at Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve and Lincolnway Road; on the other side of the roadway is Lincolnway Central High School.

From there, the trail continues north and east. Just before the trail's crossing of US 30 (on a bike/ped bridge), you'll find a large playground and parking area. The trail continues a short distance farther south, past Gun Club Lake and residential neighborhoods. At its end, it connects to the Old Plank Road Trail, which continues west to Joliet and east toward Chicago Heights.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available on the west end of the trail at the Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve. Additionally, near its eastern end, near the trail's crossing over US 30, there is parking available on the north side of US 30.

Hickory Creek Bikeway Reviews

Very Beautiful Bike Ride!!! Highly Recommend

Very beautiful bike path, just be careful for people passing by, otherwise is a beautiful photography place!! the place also has benches which is a nice addition

smooth fast trail with turns and hills

This is a very nice trail where you can go quite fast. Just be careful of pedestrians. The trail connects to the plank trail and the route 30 trail as well. I recommend this trail in the fall as it is very beautiful.

Great starter trail

Nice scenic path covering 2 creeks and a small bridge. Connects to a longer path if wanting an extended ride. Definitely a few hills but nothing to taxing, especially with the tons of bench's they have directly next to the path you can take a break whenever you like. A bunch of shaded path makes it both beautiful and a great choice on a hotter day.
