The James River Trail runs alongside its namesake James River for 2.2 miles. It is housed in James River State Park and is sandwiched on either end by boat launches: Dixon and Canoe Landing. At the southwestern end of the trail, trail users can connect to the Running Creek Trail.
It is a dirt/grass trail that is relatively flat and good for hiking, biking and equestrian use.
Parking is avilable at the boat launches on either end of the tril as well as at several other points throughout James River State Park.
