The Lake Wales Trailway is a 2.3 mile, 12-foot wide asphalt path that circles most of Lake Wales. The trail serves both as a recreational and transportation asset, thanks to its proximity to a number community venues including Kiwanis Park. The trail is open to a variety of non-motorized uses including biking, walking, and in-line skating.
The trail occupies the railbed of the Seaboard Air Line Rail Bed.
The best public access to the trail is at Kiwanis Park at 1000 N Lakeshore Blvd., Lake Wales Florida 33853. From US 27 go east past the McDonalds on Central Avenue to Lakeshore Blvd. Go Left on Lakeshore Blvd and go past the ball fields. Kiwanis Park is at the intersection of Tower Blvd & Lakeshore Blvd.
The Trail can also be accessed at 450 N Scenic HWY Lake Wales, FL 33853. From US 27 go east past the McDonalds on Central Avenue to Ridge Scenic Highway (SR 17 / Alt 27) Go Left or North on Scenic Highway past the railroad tracks. The trail is between Seminole Avenue and Kissimmee Avenue.
I come here every morning to run and rollerblade and it’s amazing. Although, it’s not long it is very good pavement to rollerblade!
Beautiful trail and park. The town was very wise to preserve this area for everyone to share. There is a small section where there is no trail but you can ride on the road to connect to the rest of the trail but it is not marked
