The Lincoln Memorial Trail is a 1.8-mile multiuse path in the community of Westville, which is located just 15 minutes from Lake Michigan in Indiana's La Porte County.
The southwest trailhead on Country Road 1100 West has a sign for the Lincoln Memorial Trail and a small trail parking lot with an accessible space. Bluhm County Park's playground, bark park, picnic area, restrooms, and parking lot is directly across the road, and the park's paved Gust Trail heads west from its connection with the Lincoln Memorial Trail.
With a variety of terrains, the 96-acre Bluhm County Park has paved and hiking trails, picnic tables, restrooms, parking, a playground, and a no-leash dog exercise area. There are opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, geocaching, cross-country skiing, and fishing.
From Country Road 1100 West, the Lincoln Memorial Trail heads east through the park as a paved multiuse path. An unpaved designated horse trail runs alongside and may be slightly overgrown or narrow in places along the route.
Curving north and passing a pond, the trail turns east to reach the abandoned Monon Railroad corridor. Crossing Country Road 350 South, the rail-trail runs north along the former rail corridor to County Road 300 South—the trail's northern end.
There is a trailhead where the trail crosses County Road 350 South with a parking lot, trail sign, hitching post, water fountain, restrooms, picnic tables, park benches, and bike racks.
The trail was developed by the LaPorte County Parks Department and there are plans to extend the trail 2 miles north to Purdue University Northwest. Long term plans include extending the trail north to the Michigan City Amtrack station and south through La Crosse.
Parking is available at the southwest trailhead on S 1100 W, across from Bluhm County Park's main entrance (3855 S 1100 W, Westville). There is a sign for the trail and the small paved parking lot has five spaces, including an accessible space. The park has a large paved parking lot.
Midway along the trail route, the County Road 350 South Trailhead (10335 W 350 South, Westville) has a paved parking with seven spaces, including an accessible space.
There is no parking at the trail's northern end on County Road 300 South and the entrance is blocked by two off-set cattle gates to prevent motor vehicles from using the trail. It is possible to navigate these with on foot or with a horse. However, this element may make the trail less accessible from the northern end. This entrance is viewable in Street View on the TrailLink map.
