Long Bridge Trail Description

The Long Bridge Trail starts at U.S. Highway 95 at the south entrance to Sandpoint in northern Idaho. The trail includes a 2-mile-long pedestrian bridge, which parallels the highway and provides a connection to the community of Sagle across the Pend Oreille River. Along the way, enjoy expansive views of the water and wooded hillsides.

Parking and Trail Access

From Sandpoint, go south on 1st Avenue and follow signs for the bridge. A parking lot is available approximately 1 block east of the intersection of 1st Avenue and Superior Street.

Long Bridge Trail Reviews

Excellent for a short ride out of Sandpoint. I didn't go all the way down to Sagle. I was riding my e-bike and wasn't sure if I should be riding on a trail that says no motorized vehicles. I wanted to be respectful to the rules of the trail.

Missing some very basic features

My wife and I rode the trail last week. We won't hurry back. We started at Sagle and had difficulty finding the trailhead. Once we found it we discovered there was no parking allowed. We had to park across the highway and run across 4 lanes of traffic; a bad start. The trail itself was in rough shape with many bumps and fissures in the asphalt. The ride across the bridge was beautiful. It was the only redeeming part of the trip. We won't hurry back.
