Overview
The Old Farragut Railroad Trail is a 3.4-mile pathway running between the City of Athol and Farragut State Park.
About the Route
Following a former railroad corridor, the trail has a rough surface of dirt, crushed stone, gravel, and grass. It is best suited to walking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross-county skiing, and snowshoeing.
The trail runs fairly straight through a lightly wooded area. It crossing a couple streets, which provide access to the surrounding community.
The western end of the trail is near Athol's downtown, where there are shops and eateries. For more outdoor adventure, check out Farragut State Park located near the eastern end of the trail. Both ends of the trail have rough gravel parking areas with a limited amount of space.
The Old Farragut Railroad Trail runs between 7510 E Howard Rd (Athol) and E Perimeter Rd (Bayview), both of which offering parking.
