Even before this trail was officially open, residents of Mount Berry and Rome were flocking to enjoy it. The Mount Berry Trail sits along the west bank of the Oostanaula River, a bucolic retreat of riparian forest and rolling pasture. The trail is paved, making for an easy walk, ride or run while providing a vantage point to spot resident wildlife like deer, beavers, muskrats and various species of waterfowl. The first phase of the trail terminates at Big Dry Creek, but future connections are planned to the Armuchee Connector road and the Oostanaula Levee Trail, part of the Heritage Park Trail system that occupies the opposite bank of the river.
The official trailhead is located at the end of Coligni Way, behind the US Post Office located at 1420 Martha Berry Blvd NE, Rome. There is parking, signage and a map marking the start of the trail.
