The Palmer Mesa multiuse pathway is about 3.5 miles of paved and unpaved trail in Colorado Springs. The trail kicks off in Blair Bridge Open Space, splitting off from the Foothills Trail and winding south along Mesa Road. At about the midway point, the trail comes to Oliver Wendell Holmes Middle School, where it intersects with the Mesa Valley Trail.
Aside from the linkages of the trail, other highlights of the trail include the John Bridge Trail viewpoint, a small parking area just north of the trail's endpoint which faces a stone arch bridge built by John Blair, the landscape gardener for the Glen Eyre estate. A little further south, on the west side of Mesa Road, is an overlook which puts on full display the striking red sandstone formations and rolling hills of Garden of the Gods park.
There's parking at the two viewing areas mentioned above but there are few spaces and they fill up at peak viewing times, like sunset.
