The small town of Pelion lies 22 miles southwest of the South Carolina capital, Columbia. The town boasts its own rail-trail, a 0.8 mile walking path occupying a disused railway track. The trail is sandwiched between Railroad Avenue on the and Pelion Road, but rows of trees help to obscure the adjacent streets. Along the trail is a small community park with picnic shelters and a playground. Benches and trash receptacles are also available at intervals along the pedestrian path. There is a trail crossing at Main Street/ US 178.
There is parking at the intersection on Railroad Avenue and Main Street.
I enjoy walking and jogging this trail. It’s a great way to get a quick workout into your day.
Nice lit trail.
