The Porterville Rails to Trails Parkway is a short converted right-of-way of the San Joaquin Valley Railroad through the town of Porterville. The arrow-straight trail runs between Walnut and Henderson Avenues near downtown and features benches, lighted crosswalks with audible warnings and a drinking fountain. Several trees were planted along the trail to enhance the route.
Parking is available on downtown streets and at the Porterville Heritage Center (256 E. Orange Avenue).
Trail now extends from Henderson Ave. to the Heritage Center across Olive Ave. past the South County Justice Center. Now with two drinking fountains and a new bench. Always enjoy including it in my jogging routes. Well paved.
This one mile Rail Trail Parkway still has rails at one street crossing.
