The Rahway Valley Rail Trail is a project headed by Union Count Connects (UCC) and aims to stretch between Summit and Cranford, NJ. As of now, a 0.25 mile section is open in Summit. This distinct section is managed by the Summit Park Line foundation. At the northern terminus of the trail, there are 15 raised garden beds managed by the foundation. Skirting along the Overlook Medical Center, the Summit Park Line is a paved linear parked with shady tree cover and benches. At the southern end of the trail, there is a pedestrian bridge over Morris Avenue.
It aims to be a fully developed linear park system with brick walkways, planted trees, and more. This "Summit Park Line" section will one day run to Briant Park.
From Summit go down Broad Street (County Road 512) and past the entrance to Overlook Hospital. Turn right at the "No Parking" sign and walk to the other end of the parking lot to find the entrance to the trail.
