Winding along the west bank of the Catawba River, the River Trail invites users to walk or bike in a tranquil natural setting. The trail begins in River Park in the city of Rock Hill. About a mile later, it joins the Piedmont Medical Center Trail, along which users can continue their the shady riverside jaunt for another 2.5 miles, with highlights including the Riverwalk Trestle, a historic railroad bridge towering just above the trail. The trail's rubberized surface provides the smoothness of asphalt with the give of a softer tread. Pets on a leash are welcome on the trail.
The River Trail is part of a system of trails and greenways across the Carolinas known as the Carolina Thread Trails.
Park at River Park (1782 Quality Cir, Rock Hill) or at the northern trailhead, Piedmont Medical Center Trail's Celriver Trail access point (100 Celriver Rd, Rock Hill).
