Salt Creek Levee Trail Description

The Salt Creek Levee Trail provides a scenic route for bikers and runners along its namesake waterway. This crushed-limestone path takes you past Lincoln's oldest neighborhoods and under a picturesque old railroad bridge.

At its southern end, a connection to the Bison Trail will take you to Pioneers Park, a wildlife sanctuary where you will find bison, elk and white-tailed deer, as well as hiking trails through prairie, woodland and wetland habitats. For the adventurous, the Salt Creek Levee Trail also offers access to the Jamaica North Trail, which parallels the city's Wilderness Park, a wooded area providing dirt trails for hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. A new underpass takes trail users under Rosa Parks Way, instead of having to detour onto South 1st.

At its northern end, the trail becomes paved and will take you to Haymarket Park, the city's baseball stadium, and near the historic Haymarket District, a market square dating back to the 1800s.

Salt Creek Levee Trail Reviews

They just got done with the new underpass under Rosa Parks Way. Shorter path, and lot nicer than having to go over to 1st Street.

Lack Luster But Rides Easy

Runs on the west side of downtown Lincoln, from Van Dorn St. in the south, following along the banks of the Salt Creek, and curving east around the north end of downtown.

good place to watch the sunset

the trail is clean mostly flat land other than the small slopes when you go under bridges or under railroad tracks it goes next to the creek all the way, the ground isnt paved but its flat and smooth to ride on, lots of nice people riding and running all over this trail its just a good trail to see the sun set on

a somewhat scary thing and also awsome thing to ride thru is the old tunnel half way in its dark and only fits one person at a time gives you that adventure since when you ride in it ^_-
