Also known as the Sawmill Trail and the Sawmill Bicycle Trail, this mostly crushed stone path winds through the woods in the Township of Brick. From its southern endpoint at 918 Burnt Tavern Road, it heads north for 1.1 miles until it ends next to the fire academy on Herbertsville Road.
Parts of the route make use of boardwalks and the trail crosses Sawmill Creek via a pedestrian bridge. Most of the route has a surface of crushed stone that sometimes mixes with hard packed clay/dirt and grass. Some cyclists might be more comfortable using a bike suited to slightly rougher terrain, such as a mountain bike.
There are benches, trashcans, and a few covered picnic tables located along the route. About halfway along the trail, there is a side path that leads to Brick Memorial High School and to Herbertsville Park (498 Nebraska Ave), which has a playground, basketball courts, softball field, benches, bike racks, doggie waste stations, and a walking path.
Parking is available at the south end of the trail in a crushed stone parking lot (918 Burnt Tavern Rd) and at Herbertsville Park (498 Nebraska Ave), which connects to the trail via a short side path. The side path's park entrance is located by the southwest corner of the softball field, near where Colorado Avenue West comes to a dead-end.
Used to go here all the time to walk my dog. Decent length for walking if you go back and forth. There’s parking and wide paths. Fun to bike but it’s not very long. Best for walking.
