The Southern Platte Trail is a hard surface, shared use path in the Kansas City metro area, Missouri. The trail begins in the City of Parkville, and then sandwiches SR 45 as it heads east into Kansas City, passing through a mix of residential and commercial neighborhoods. The trail on the north side runs from State Route 9 to Cosby Avenue. The segment on the southern side is longer starting at NW Hampton Road/ K Highway in Parkville. It narrows into a sidewalk beneath I-29/ US 71 and blooms again into a wide trail as it curves around NW 64th Street / Gower Road. It finally ends at the trailhead that it shares with another beloved Platte County path, the Line Creek Trail.
The trailhead can be found on N Gower Street, just before NW Waukomis Drive, if you are approaching from the west. There’s a map there, as well as a bike service station, portable restroom and a small parking area.
Southern Platte Pass is a great trail. It is well maintained. It links me to Parkville and Line Creek Trail. This trail links me to the Greenway.
